Black Bear Attacks in Minn.
It is fairly common knowledge among those living in American bear country that black bears are somewhat more timid than the larger grizzly. As Mary Lou Munn unfortunately discovered, sometimes a lot of noise and commotion simply does not drive off an angry black bear.

Speed-Eating
Taking a child out to dinner is a risky business. My husband and I spent every Friday and Saturday of our four year marriage eating out. It was our fun – we tried different restaurants, drove miles to eat at new ones, we lived for Fridays and Saturdays. When we found out we were expecting, I convinced myself and worked very hard to convince my husband, Mark, that this wouldn’t change. Babies can go to restaurants. We are going to have a perfect baby, one that never cries and certainly doesn’t shriek at the top of his lungs like all the other children seem to do.

Baby Talk
As a new mom, I am never quite sure what to say when people comment on my baby. Usually they say he is cute or adorable, and I reply with a well-meaning "thank you." My husband, when Devin was first born, would say "I know." This really embarrassed me (I mean, where is the modesty?), so I trained him to thank others for their kind words, instead of agreeing with them.
