The Geek Collector
While certainly not the largest collection of computers, David E. McKim’s online Computer Museum contains over 75 “exhibits” ranging from the original Altair 8800 to the infamous Apple II and the IBM AT.

Love or hate ‘em, Eric Raymond, Richard Stallman, and Linux Torvalds make hilarious comic strip characters. …assuming you are of the ultra-geek persuasion and already know who they are.

Speed-Eating
Taking a child out to dinner is a risky business. My husband and I spent every Friday and Saturday of our four year marriage eating out. It was our fun – we tried different restaurants, drove miles to eat at new ones, we lived for Fridays and Saturdays. When we found out we were expecting, I convinced myself and worked very hard to convince my husband, Mark, that this wouldn’t change. Babies can go to restaurants. We are going to have a perfect baby, one that never cries and certainly doesn’t shriek at the top of his lungs like all the other children seem to do.

Sale: Buy One, Steal One
Stealing is stealing, even if you are stealing music online. Yet many people continue to download music illegally. They now have at least one media outlet on their side.

Baby Talk
As a new mom, I am never quite sure what to say when people comment on my baby. Usually they say he is cute or adorable, and I reply with a well-meaning "thank you." My husband, when Devin was first born, would say "I know." This really embarrassed me (I mean, where is the modesty?), so I trained him to thank others for their kind words, instead of agreeing with them.

Mom's Groups
Today I made my first effort to reach out to other moms. For months I have been blatantly ignoring the well-meaning advice of friends, my mom, and my mother-in-law. Yes, I would love to have wonderful, life-affirming friends who can help guide me along every step of motherhood. Who will be there when I am down, provide fellowship and fun and realize the daily tensions of staying at home. Deep down I know this is something that I really, really want, but getting it isn’t easy.

Microsoft vs. Piracy: Arrrrr!
With market penetration around 90%, one of the few remaining strategies for squeezing more profit out of the Windows monopoly is to begin curbing piracy. If your own copy isn't legal, you may now feel the pinch.

Barracuda Attacks Man
We often forget that our intelligence does not guarantee our position at the top of nature’s food chain. On Thursday night, Tonga “Piu” Loumoli was attacked by a four-foot fish while night diving off Kahana Bay.

Sleep
Sleep. Sleep is a wonderful thing. Sometimes I think I could sleep forever. I just love to lie in my big, comfortable bed. Sink into the pillows and fall asleep. Before my son was born, I would sleep in on the weekends, sometimes even until 11:00 AM! I’m not really a morning person, but I’m not a nighttime person either. I basically like to sleep at both ends of the clock. And I did, and it made me happy.

Targeting Beam Weapons
Imagine you are a military soldier or even a traditional hunter sighting down the barrel of your reliable firearm. Just as you squeeze the trigger you realize that your intended target has been improperly identified. Now imagine that you can simply release the trigger and your target will walk away unharmed. The very idea is impossible with traditional weaponry, but a new collection of energy beam-weapons stands poised to make this a reality.
