Cindy Sheehan used to be the grieving mother of a son lost in the Iraq war. No longer.
Every news story covering Cindy Sheehan has some poor sap suggesting that she and her cause deserve sympathy and consideration because Sheehan lost her son in the Iraq war.
In the beginning, I agreed, but it has gone too far.
Cindy Sheehan is no longer just a grieving war mother. She is now a political figurehead being paid by, and working for the anti-war, anti-Bush extreme liberal left.
There are thousands of mothers who have lost loved ones in the war, and there are very few who climb on top of their children’s efforts to gain political clout.
Cindy’s son, Casey, was a volunteer who believed in what he was fighting for, and made it public knowledge that he enjoyed being in the military. Even Cindy has called her son’s death an “honorable sacrifice.” I believe Cindy has received the sympathy she deserves, and she is now slowly degrading the sacrifice made by her son by twisting his death into an extreme leftist argument for abandoning the people of Iraq.
Honor the fallen that fought for our country, and shun those who use their sacrifice to attack the very cause they were fighting for. The real tragedy is that in this case, it is a mother who dishonors her son after he has given his life for a cause he believed in.
As Michell Malkin points out, even Cindy's husband has had enough.
