Michelle Malkin and Brian J refer to the same photo of a young Muslim urinating on an American flag with the encouragement of his role models.
All the people who suggest that terrorism is the result of a cultural difference, and blame America for not being understanding, take note. When alleged Koran violations are made public in the media, riots and protests ensue in a way that ends the lives of Muslims. Furthermore, the violators are prosecuted, and the entire situation is mercilessly attacked by the media. America gets angry and reacts appropriately to such actions.
However, when a US flag is micturated upon by Muslims, Americans continue to blame each other and their government for failure. Enormous campaigns are launched in an effort to blame the government administration, and fingers point directly at the President.
Terrorists understand - which is why their training manuals tell them to lie about their conditions in captivity. One bad rumor and Americans begin hating each other, rather than hating terrorists. Its all part of a psychological game being played by terrorists. A game that we set our selves up for when psychologists and educators in America began to place increased importance on the individual rather than family, faith, and community.
Yes. There is a cultural difference. So if you intend to use this as your excuse against the Bush administrations actions against terrorism, make certain you finally understand what that difference is.
